Just after 1000 on Saturday 25 June Frank Roberts arrived at Shell Bay, having walked the 633 mile South West Coast Path from Minehead via Lands End over the past five weeks.
Frank, who lives in Swanage, has worked for South West Trains since 2007 but previously spent 25 years in the Army. His long walk was undertaken with the aim of raising £3,000 for Heroes Haven, purpose designed accommodation to allow injured service personnel and their families/carers to enjoy holidays in Swanage.
On the last day of this expedition, Frank had left Worth Matravers at 0500, and people were invited to meet him in Swanage at 0715 to join him for the last section of the walk to Shell Bay. When Frank and his entourage arrived, two Wilts & Dorset, Purbeck Breezer buses were waiting to take everyone back to Swanage in good time to see the 11th (RSS) Signal Regiment exercise their right to march through the town.
Wilts & Dorset congratulates Frank on his achievement, and was delighted to provide the buses from Shell Bay back to Swanage free of charge.
