more buses now go to Southbourne

Date: 19 Sep 2011

Bosses at Wilts & Dorset say that the addition to the m2 route will offer a bus up to every 7 minutes during weekdays and Saturdays, and every 15 minutes on Sundays. There will also be night buses on Fridays and Saturdays until 4am.

The enhanced route will now run from Christchurch Road to Pokesdown rail station, Seabourne Road to Fishermans Walk, Southbourne and then returns via Pokesdown and Boscombe into Bournemouth.

Leon Wellman, Commercial Manager for Wilts & Dorset, said that the extension follows requests and suggestions from some of the half a million Customers who use the more services each month: “Since the launch of the more bus m1 and m2 services in 2004, we have seen year on year growth of approximately 15%. We believe that the Southbourne extension will be appreciated by commuters and leisure travellers alike.”

The promotions team offered free pens and vouchers to the public to try the extended service on the launch day and further offers promoting the service will be undertaken over the coming months.

The company invested £4 million to launch the more bus services in December 2004 and the 38 buses received a £100,000 facelift with a new livery being introduced to celebrate 100% passenger growth in August last year.
