As a result of the funding cuts made by Wiltshire Council there will be some alterations to the X5 and Activ8 services with effect from 13th November.
The main affected parts of the X5 service are evenings and Sundays, there has also been some retiming of early morning journeys to ensure a more reliable service. The Activ8 changes are done to assist with the availability of evening services between Amesbury and Salisbury.
To summarise the changes are:
- Southbound journeys have been retimed between Amesbury and Salisbury to improve reliability.
- In Bulford the X5 services going to Amesbury and Salisbury will pick up on the High Street instead of Salisbury Road. Salisbury Road will continue to be served by the Activ8.
- The sections of route between Everleigh and Upavon are withdrawn
- X5 departures from Swindon will no longer go via Ogbourne St George. The village will have alternative journeys offered by Stagecoach service 70.
- On weekdays and Saturdays the last X5 departure from Swindon through to Salisbury will be at 1740. The last X5 departure from Swindon through to Pewsey will be at 1840.
- After 1800 there will be a combination of Activ8 and X5 journeys serving between Salisbury and Amesbury as the evening service.
- Certain evening journeys on X5 operate via Old Sarum (New Estate Turning Circle) which is off The Portway. The route (in both directions) is to and from the Beehive Roundabout.
- There are changes to evening journeys on Activ8 with certain ones going via Raleigh Crescent.
- All journeys am and pm that used to serve Boscombe Down Roundabout will now run via Underwood Drive and Archers Gate.
- Wilts & Dorset will operate the X5 on Sundays between Salisbury to Larkhill, Stagecoach are offering services through from Swindon to Salisbury as the service 5. There will remain two morning and evening journeys from Pewsey to Salisbury.
- Activ8’s last departure on Sundays will now be at 2035.
