One of England’s newest National Parks the New Forest was established as a ‘new’ forest in 1079 by William I as a private hunting ground. Sandwiched between the urban areas of Southampton and Bournemouth and the south coast, there is plenty places to allow you to relax and unwind.
In the summer the New Forest Tour provides the perfect way to see to forest and get you to some of the more remote areas to stroll around. It also takes in the Beaulieu Motor Museum and Exbury Gardens.
Charming Lymington, with its interesting little shops and ferries to the Isle of Wight is the hub of New Forest routes. Heading north is Bluestar 6 calling at Brockenhurst, Lymington and Ashurst, before leaving the New Forest at Totton and heading to the bustle of Southampton. To the west are routes X1 and X2 to Bournemouth, calling at New Milton and Christchurch along the way. But for a lovely view of the Isle of Wight and the Needles get an X1 through Milford-on-Sea.
