The English National Concessionary Travel (ENCT) scheme is a great deal for those over sixty and some people with disabilities. It allows free travel all over England, including Wilts & Dorset.
Once you have got your pass you can jump on and off buses as much as you like – a quick pop to the shops or a day out to the coast, historic Salisbury or through the New Forest. Most areas have time restrictions and these can vary from area to area.
However, all areas allow free travel between 0930 and 2330 on weekdays, plus all weekend.
Sadly, ENCT passes are not valid on the Stonehenge Tour. Also the scheme doesn’t extend to visitors from Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands.
Touch Down your pass to Travel
The introduction of new ticket machines and technology means that we have changed the way we ask you to use your Concessionary Pass on our buses.
When you board the bus you will need to 'touch down' your pass on the ticket machine to register your journey. The machine will beep and the a green light will show to acknowledge that your pass has been read and is valid for travel. You do not even need to take your pass from your wallet or holder as long as you touch down with the card face up and don't try to do two at once.
The driver will be happy to assist you if you are unsure and if for some reason your pass doesn't register you will need to contact your local council and request a new pass.
It's simple and easy, designed to make travel easier.
