The annual Warren Luxton Memorial Award winner has been announced for the top engineering apprentice within the Go-Ahead Group’s bus and coach companies in the South who has achieved excellent results at college and at work over the last 12 months.
Sean Crumpler, 20, from Corfe Mullen, was chosen by supervisors and managers from the 14 apprentices employed across the Group’s companies including Bluestar, Damory Coaches, Marchwood Motorways, Southern Vectis, and Wilts & Dorset. It’s the second time that he has gained the accolade. He started his apprenticeship in 2005 and was the recipient of the award in 2006.
Sean was presented with the silver platter, a cheque and certificate by Alex Carter, Go-Ahead’s Regional Managing Director and Rodney Luxton, the last Non-Exec Chairman of Wilts & Dorset whose son Warren died in a car accident at the age of 21 in 1999 before he could complete his own engineering apprenticeship.
’We are delighted to continue the tradition of the Warren Luxton Memorial Award by presenting the award for the second time to Sean as he comes to the end of this 4 year apprenticeship,’ said Alex Carter. ’As a company we recruit at least three apprentices from the region each year to replace those that complete the four year course before joining the experienced technicians and fitters.’
