New Operations Manager Ian Shutler
The 300 drivers and administration staff based at Wilts & Dorset’s Poole, Bournemouth and Swanage depots have a new boss. Ian Shutler, from Upper Parkstone, has been promoted from Depot Manager at Bournemouth to Operations Manager for the three depots.
Ian, 56, first joined Hants & Dorset as a Conductor at the Poole Depot in December 1974 and became a driver in 1977. He became an Inspector in 2001 and was promoted to depot manager Ringwood in December 2004, moving to become Depot Manager Bournemouth two years later.
Alex Carter, Managing Director of the Go Ahead Group of companies in the south since the acquisition of Wilts & Dorset in 2003, said that he is confident that Ian’s experience and local knowledge will benefit the operation that provides the most extensive network of services across Dorset.
’We are pleased to recognise the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by Ian over 3 decades with this promotion,’ said Alex Carter. ’With Ian in place to oversee the day to day operations there is no reason why we cannot continue to see passenger growth based upon a reliable and punctual bus service.’
Just from Poole bus station there are over 1,400 departures each day starting from 05.20 in morning until 00.30 at night using 110 single and double deck buses.
